Art isn't what you see, it's what you get others to see.
After thirty years of London living and enjoying successful careers in education and the City, in 2014 Gary and Michael found an 18th century cottage in the heart of Suffolk - an ideal place to spend a weekend away from the metropolis.
Settling into the village community, experiencing the warmth and friendliness of new friends locally, quickly turned a weekend retreat into their home, and it was London that became their usual – then occasional - weekend destination.
Not too longer afterwards both Michael and Gary took early retirement and acquired George – a chocolate brown working cocker spaniel who now shares, complicates and greatly enhances their lives.
Having long enjoyed a deep interest and appreciation of fine art, and possessing a modest collection of their own, they decided to take the next step of opening an art gallery. And to open their gallery in Saxmundham, a town they like and one close to where they live, seemed the natural choice.
So on 1 November, 2016, The George Farnham Gallery, proudly if somewhat discreetly located at 6A, High Street, Saxmundham, Suffolk, opened its doors for the first time…
